What Rent or Caretake is

Rent or Caretake is an online listing service. We publish positions submitted by property owners and let caretakers contact them. We are not an employer, staffing agency, or party to any arrangement between owners and caretakers.

No guarantee of placement

We do not guarantee that any caretaker will be hired or that any owner will find a caretaker. This limits our promises about outcomes. It does not excuse us from delivering what we advertise: access to the verified listings and features described at the time of purchase.

Owner responsibilities

Owners confirm they own the property or are authorized to hire for it, that listings are accurate, and that they will comply with employment, housing, tax, and tenancy laws. Listings submitted without authority will be removed.

Caretaker responsibilities

Caretakers should independently verify any owner and property, and should not send money to an owner or third party. Rent or Caretake will never ask you to pay a placement fee to an owner.

Verification

We make reasonable efforts to verify owners but cannot guarantee that every listing is accurate or safe. Use your own judgment and due diligence.

Rental listings

Owners and authorized managers may list a home, apartment or short-term rental for a fee of $4.95 per property for a 30-day listing. Rent or Caretake is a listing service only. We are not a landlord, broker, or booking agent, we do not handle rent or deposits, and we are not a party to any rental agreement. Listers are responsible for the accuracy of their listings and for complying with fair housing, landlord-tenant, tax, and short-term rental laws. Renters should verify the property and the lister before paying anyone. We may remove any listing we believe is fraudulent, inaccurate, or unauthorized.

Prohibited use

No fraudulent, misleading, or unauthorized listings, no scraping of contact details, and no use of Rent or Caretake to identify or target unoccupied properties.

Liability

To the extent allowed by law, our liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the prior 12 months. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for fraud or misrepresentation.
